#73

We went to a magic show because it was the last day of the library reading program.  Ronald McDonald was there for the magic show.  He had lots of pockets.  He didn't show us this but I figure that's how he took out the banner.  First, he tried the shake technique.  Then he pulled out a piece that was shaken up out of one pocket.  He said he must have shook it too hard.  Then we did a new magic wand.  It was really weird.  He did the swirl technique.  He pulled out one that was swirly.  So he said he must have swirled it too hard.  Next he decided to get a wand.  He pulled out a giant straw.  It was huge.  He laid it behind himself and pulled out a wand.  He tapped the bag with the wand and took out the banner perfect.

I have another trick I really liked.  He had a volunteer.  It was funny.  He took out the wand and told the volunteer to take the wand.  The wand was green.  The volunteer took the green outside cover of the wand and then Ronald McDonald said, "She has the wand, eek!  Now take the blue wand."  It was so funny.  It went on and on with different colors and the wand kept getting thinner.  he seemed not to notice.  On the last one, the wand was white.  He said, "take the white wand", and she took it.  She took the whole thing.

Also, for the prize drawing, I got drawn once.  I got a Superman shirt and a Superman hat.  Sam got a red light saber with a red light knife.  The light saber has guards that pop out.  One of them got jammed with sand when he filled it up.  He also got a mask.

The light saber has a hole in the top and when you wave it hard enough, it whistles. I like sticks better because they're not so heavy.  I'm thinking about making a sword that collapses when you stab only it springs right back because it has a spring in it.  You can put a cap on it.  When you do, it goes inside and the hand guards go in.  The hand guard is a piece of wood with a hole bored in it on one side and it's put into a part wood half hinged part with a nail driven through making a little hinge. The part where you put the hand guard piece is attached to the back end of the blade so when the blade is pushed inward, the guards go in automatically.  On Sam's light saber, you have to push each of the guards in manually  as well as the blade.  They automatically go out when the blade goes out all the way except the one that's jammed with sand.
