Making Cherry Crisp

First I assembled the ingredients on the stove.
I used cherries and blueberries.  They came from the freezer.  There were dark cherries and light cherries.  One of them was sweet and one of them was sour.

I put the cherries and blueberries in the dish.  I whisked together 3 Tablespoons sugar and 2 Tablespoons cornstarch. I put it over the cherries and tossed them. I added some vanilla. I sliced 2 Tablespoons butter and put it evenly on the cherries.
Mommy softened 6 more Tablespoons of butter in a glass bowl in the microwave. I measured everything in:
1 cup oats
3/4 cup brown sugar (It was delicious straight from the box.)
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
a pinch of salt (That was fun. First, I poured some in my hand. Then I pinched it out.)

I mixed it with my hands.  I did it with a spoon first but it wasn't all mixed together. So then I mixed it with my hands. I washed my hands first. Mommy helped me put on the crisp part.
We baked it until it was golden and it was bubbling.
I ate some with whipped cream. It was sweet and delicious. I ate three bowls the next day: 1 with Daddy without whipped cream, 1 with Mommy trying both, and 1 with Naomi.  I think I like it better without whipped cream because there's more cherry flavor.

Next time, I want to try making cherry apple crisp to transition kind of slowly over to apple crisp. I want to try apple crisp but I don't eat apples.
